Frequently asked questions

What is a project timeline?
A single-line visual of your milestones in order — kickoff, design review, beta, launch. It shows the sequence and the shape of a plan at a glance, without the scheduling detail.
Project timeline or Gantt chart — which do I need?
A timeline puts milestones on one line and answers “what happens next?”. A Gantt chart gives every task its own bar with a start date, duration and dependencies, and answers “who is busy when?”. If durations and overlaps matter for your plan, use the free Gantt chart maker on this site; if the milestone story is enough, generate it here.
Can I use week numbers instead of calendar dates?
Yes. Whatever sits before the colon becomes the point on the line: Week 1, Sprint 4, Q2, Phase 2 or a date like Mar 12 all work identically.
How many milestones should I put on one timeline?
The tool accepts up to 14 events, but six to ten is the sweet spot — enough to show every phase, few enough to scan in one pass. For a long project, split the plan into two timelines.
Do I need an account to download the PNG?
No. There is no sign-up step anywhere in the flow: generate, click Download PNG, and drop the file into your deck. Free generations reset daily at midnight, 10 per day.
